50% of premature deaths in America are a result of behavioral lifestyle choices. Only 10% of premature deaths in America are a result of a lack of access to healthcare. American's are struggling with chronic disease. 1 in 3 American's meet the medical criteria for obesity. Every 37 seconds, 1 American dies of heart disease. In the last 30 years, diabetes rose 50%. We are slowly killing ourselves.
We are not struggling with a lack of resources (remember, only 10% of premature deaths are caused by this). We are not struggling with knowing what is right and good for our body. Rather, we are struggling with the inability to change our unhealthy habits.
Habit change is difficult! Our brain is hardwired to create habits -- rather, neural pathways. It's actually an incredibly helpful part of the way we are made. Imagine having to think about every single step you took to get out of bed, get dressed, brush your teeth, go to the bathroom...etc. Most of these things are second nature to us, and we do them without even thinking. However, over time we create habits that are not healthy for us, and we need to learn how to break the unhealthy habits. It's a process, but it's possible through lifestyle behavioral changes. So, to the habit you are struggling to break -- be encouraged, because once you replace it with your new healthy habit, the healthy habit will also be hard to break. It simply takes discovery, time, a desire to change, and support.
Integrative Health Coaches bridge the gap in the healthcare system, encouraging clients to take information and turn it into transformation. Most American's have the information or the diagnosis, but they don't have the partnership, accountability, or behavior and habit change resources. Together, we will dive into the complex factors that drive your health and lifestyle choices. Some clients will know what s/he wants (whether it's to lose the extra weight, start eating healthier, sleep more, to tackle their career goals...etc.). Other clients will struggle with knowing what s/he truly wants as people have told them what s/he should want. Either case, we will dive in together. My passion as an Integrative Health Coach is to help you live your life balanced and joy-filled. Together, we will partner to help you become a healthier version of your truest self. We facilitate self-discovery and assess where you are at with a personal health assessment, and then create a plan of action to move towards healing as we assess what's important to you -- what your vision is of optimal health, and what you value. Through accountability and habit-based intervention, you will begin to reach your goals. It's not about quick fixes or fad diets. It's about taking small steps towards change each day, that will eventually compound to success.
